Members Co-ordinator Messages to HKSW Members and Friends|
(C) MEMBERS CO-ORDINATOR MESSAGE
Although we have raised the door fee from HK$70 to HK$80 and some of you may consider that it is not as competitive as the fee charged by other Boardgame Cafe, the Office of the Members Co-ordinator are announcing the following measures which will hopefully, encourage members to focus on the additional fringe benefits by coming to our Bi-monthly meetings:
(1) Booking Tiger Room to play Boardgame on Saturday or Sunday (non-HKSW Meeting)
Well, if cost really concerns you, then you can email me to pm me at Facebook to book a table to play boardgame on Saturday or Sunday (non-HKSW Meeting). I usually have one 3 foot by 6 foot table ready for use by HKSW members. First come, first serve. Of course. It's free of charge and you can also bring non-HKSW member to play there. Tiger Room is in Wu Sung Street, close to Wing On Department Store which takes 5 to 10 minutes walk from Jordan MTR or YMT MTR. The money saved, I believe, would cover the HK$10 increase in our door fee for 7 meetings for you!
(2) More Boardgames competitions this year.
The Member Co-ordinator has raised funds from various Donors to sponsor the Competitions (including the DBMM KO competition just held at the AGM) that are organised by him (so that he can monitor the usage of the funds as a Trustee). The Offices of the Members Co-ordinator and the Boargame Co-ordinator have joint forces to conduct two Surveys at Facebook on the HKSW Boargame Competitions for 2017/8:
(a) The Boardgame competitions that members would like the Society to host; and
(b) The competition fee that members would prefer to be charged.
More than 23 members have replied to (a) and if we hold the following 9 competitions, (Advanced Squad Leader 13, Here I Stand 12, Imperial Assault 11, Command & Color Ancients 11, Virgin Queens 11, Quartermaster General Team Play 9, Twilight Struggle 9, GMT Coins system 9, Kremlin 6) we shall satisfy the needs of 23 members (the yardstick is that there must be at least 6 members saying Yep).
13 Members has replied to (b) and 9 of them say competition should be free of charge, 1 trophy for the winner only, but optional sovenir from HKD40 to 50 charge at cost (i.e. more or less the format we have tried at 2016/7 HKSW Here I Stand Competition)
(c) New Organisers to organise competitions
We are inviting members to organise competitions for us as if all these competitions are organised by the Members Co-ordinator and the Boardgame Co-ordinator only, they cannot organise their own games at the meetings and cannot care for those who do not like to participate in the competition games. Therefore, we have given the Power back to the People by inviting members to organise the competitions for us and we just sit in the Organising Board to monitor and give advice, where necessary. There are some volunteers to help us to date: ASL competition will be organised by Anthony Leung (who has just joined the Committee this year to look after the interest of the ASLers), COINS system competition will be organised by Ronald Tin (who will try to get 8 members to join).
Hope that the above measures will lessen some of your financial burdens as well as foster the relationship between our members and the Society.
We care for our Members.
